Hygiene in Primary Schools: Perspectives on The Writings of Antonio Ferreira de Almeida Júnior (1922-1939)

The purpose of this paper is to analyze how hygiene and education were drawn together in bibliographical production the professional work Antonio Ferreira de Almeida Júnior (1892-1971), a teacher, physician, manager who wrote teaching manuals oriented towards hygiene, childcare, educational biology. In them, nuanced representations about nature child relation primary school’s role improving society’s health, assigns key importance teachers, taught medical practices instructed measure children’s height weight, check teething, hair, vision, hearing.
